My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Urgent ! Chase needs a foster home or adopter ASAP! Her current foster mom can no longer keep her and we don't want to see this sweetheart end up in the shelter.

Chase is a wonderful, happy go lucky dog who wakes up everyday ready to make it a great one! She has been with kids ages 1-7 and loved them as well as living with 2 other dogs. Chase is a big play baby- tug of war is a favorite. After a day of play, she enjoys a snuggle and nap on the couch. Chase knows "sit" and we're working on "wait" "down" and "gentle". She is so smart, goofy, and playful; she will be the perfect addition to someone's family. She is housebroken, crate trained, up to date on vaccinations & very smart! Chase would do well as an only dog or with another energetic dog that loves to play.

If you'd like to foster Chase, Sheltered Paws will provide food, dog equipment, and any necessary vet visits until she finds her forever home. You just need to provide the love!

Additional adoption info

Some dogs are at the shelter and some are in a foster home. If the dog you like is at the shelter, please contact the person listed. She will fill you in on all the details.

If the dog you are interested in adopting is currently in a foster home, please EMAIL the individual "Foster Parent" noted in the description.

An Adoption Form Questionnaire will be emailed back to you. Upon completion, email the application back to spdrapp@shelteredpaws.com

After review, we will be happy to set up an appointment for you to come and visit with the dog in the foster home.
If the adoption is appropriate, you will be asked to sign an adoption contract.

A nominal adoption fee is charged for each dog. This fee includes a vet check, all shots, any necessary medical work and medication, spay/neuter (if possible and appropriate). All of our work is volunteer. WE MAKE NO PROFIT ON THESE ADOPTIONS. This fee does NOT include those additional things we supply while the pet is in our care e.g. pet supplies, food, toys, grooming, training, etc. (plus a heck of a lot of hugs!)

More about this rescue

Sheltered Paws Dog Rescue was established in 1997 in order to save shelter dogs that need a foster placement.

We are a 501 (3) (c) non-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible.

The reasons for fostering include:

  • Orphans too young for adoption
  • Nursing mothers
  • Mildly sick/injured dogs
  • Dogs that have been abused
  • Dogs that can not adjust to living in a shelter environment

Sheltered Paws Dog Rescue and a local shelter work together to place these dogs in temporary, loving foster homes. When you adopt from us, you are helping to save a shelter dog!!

Our Goal is to save shelter dogs in need and place them in good homes. To promote the placement of special need dogs with the help of adoption bags, grooming, socialization, and providing needed supplies. To pair the right dog with the right human companion(s), enriching everyone's lives.

Our Mission is to develop trust and love with a dog that needs to be reminded that many humans can and will take good, loving care of it for the rest of its lives. To then find loving homes for these previously abused, abandoned, sick, neglected and confused dogs. To give the dog a solid re-start with behavior, health, and trust. To spay/neuter our rescued dogs of age to stop the cycle of unwanted litters.
