Woof Woof, It`s Waffle Fry. This young fella loves showing off his goofy side and is looking for a mate he can be himself with. Is that you? Waffle Fry is only 7 months young and 43 lbs, but growing! Adopting a pup like him comes with many benefits. For starters, you can shape and mold his behavior, instill positive behavior and habits, and create a lasting bond from the start! Since coming to the shelter about a month ago, we have observed him to love cuddles and human affection, and always down for play time, fetch, chasing a ball or a squirrel! He walks well on leash, and appreciates treats which means that he will respond well to behavior and training with food! Woof woof, come meet Waffle Fry and see if this adorable pup is the dog you have been yearning for.

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note, Adoption and Pet Resource Center lines close at 6:00 p.m. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.
