Introducing Chevy, a lovable 3-year-old Pit Bull with a heart as big as his smile. Brought to the shelter by the O`Fallon police on September 8, 2023, Chevy has faced some challenges with dry, flaky skin and a condition called entropion, but thanks to the loving care of PAC, he has fully recovered! Despite his past, Chevy is an incredibly sweet boy who is always eager for attention and affection. His gentle nature and loving eyes will melt your heart in an instant. Chevy is ready to shower his new family with endless love and loyalty.
Chevy is a high-energy, toy-motivated dog who absolutely loves to play! In the play yard, he eagerly tried to engage with another dog through the fence, showing off his playful and social nature. Chevy is always ready to initiate play with anyone he meets. When he gets excited, he can become mouthy, gently placing his mouth on your arm without applying any pressure. Chevy did fantastically with a six-year-old child who visited the shelter, being super gentle and inviting the child to play tug of war without jumping or being too boisterous. Chevy kept going up to the child for pets and playtime, proving he can fit right in with a family with kids.
Chevy`s foster states that he appears to be house trained, as he would go to the door whenever he needed to go out. He didn`t bark very often and was super chill, loving a good nap and cuddles. When passing other dogs on walks, he would perk up and seem interested. Chevy also loves playing fetch in the house or yard. During play, he can be a little mouthy, gently placing his mouth on your wrist without biting down, and he responds quickly to `no.` He knows a few commands like `no` and `sit,` and they were working on `stay,` though he found it less fun. Chevy didn`t initially know how to use stairs, get in the car, or get on the bed, but he is highly treat-motivated and has learned to do stairs and get on the bed just fine. He still needs help getting into the car, though.
While Chevy doesn`t like the crate, he will go in with a treat. He did a lot of moving around at night in the crate and bit at the plastic liner and blankets but stopped immediately when told `no.` He slept wonderfully in the foster`s bed and did great all night. Chevy also handled a shower well, even though he wasn`t thrilled about getting in.`
If you`re looking for a devoted companion with a heart of gold, Chevy is your perfect match. Come meet this adorable pup and let him show yo
