My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This delightful girl is Dora. I named her after Dora the Explorer because she is fascinated and obsessed exploring the shelter yard with her nose to the ground. Dora arrived as a stray at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 9/27 and that’s over 3 months ago! She weighs 49 pounds and is about one and a half years old. She is spayed. This sweet girl looks as though she has lived her life in someone’s backyard. She sincerely hopes her new home will be one in which she will be able to hang out with her family in the house on comfortable doggy beds and couches. She knows the sit and paw commands. She likes treats and can even catch them in her mouth! She is friendly and is a-OK with being petted. The first picture below is Dora in her kennel. It is right outside the door to the laundry room in which we volunteers are coming and going. She is always standing there at the window, pleading with her adorable eyes for someone to take her out for a walk. It’s hard to resist, no matter how busy we are! She is a high-spirited girl and has lots of zeal and enthusiasm! It would seem a good fit for her would be an active family or person who would commit themselves to daily playtime, interaction and exercise! She would doubtless be a devoted and loving companion. She is looking for that special home and she hopes it comes sooner than later!
