My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tank Tenor!

Tank Tenor entered Bonita Shelter as a stray, but sadly, despite having microchip, he was not claimed. The shelter shared that he did great with other dogs there, and we scooped him up on October 1st to become a Frosted Face. Tank is estimated to be 8 years old, weighs 68 lbs., and is a total hunk of love. And the shelter staff was right: he is great with other dogs (and cats, too!)

After living in a Foster home since the beginning of December and being a well-behaved, trustworthy, house-trained, and loving all-around good boy, Tank recently returned on-site, so he can meet his forever family. Might that be you?

His Foster Mom reports:

"Tank doesn't have a mean bone in his body! He loves everyone! At night, he likes to cuddle up on the couch and roll over for belly rubs. When he is super excited, the THROWS his paw at you and chatters his teeth. We call it Puppy Paws and Happy Snappies. It didn't take any time at all for him to get used to us in the home and make himself comfortable. He has been comfortable with all handling, including baths.

In my house, Tank lives with a 3-year-old younger, larger dog, a 14-year-old smaller older dog, and two cats. We even had another foster during part of his stay. Tank is great with everyone! He is unreactive to the cats and neutral with the other dogs. His one downside is that his name is super fitting, and he is a TANK. He is going where he needs to go, and he is going there fast. He might not be the best fit for a family with small and/or very old dogs who are a bit more fragile. It's not mean spirited, he just doesn't seem to notice that they are in his way! Tank has also met three other bully breed dogs on a group hike and got along great with everyone, sharing water bowls and snacks with no problems.

Tank lives for walks! He gets so excited when he sees the leash and harness come out. We have been working on him not pulling and staying close. Tank also likes toys and playing tug, both with me and with my 3-year-old dog, but hasn't worked up the courage to wrestle or chase him yet. My dog tries so hard to get Tank to play, but he hasn't taken the bait yet. Tank has great energy and can hike for multiple miles.

Tank is solidly house-trained. He can hold it overnight and for a full work day, but when we are home with him we try to let him out as often as he wants. He will ask to go outside by sitting at the door.

Tank is a fun dog! He is so eager to please. He is trustworthy in the house when left alone uncrated and has never shown any resource guarding. He is a quick learner and will be a great addition to someone's family!"

To meet Tank, please drop by between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM any day of the week. He is looking forward to your visit!
