My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shaunty has just the sweetest and gentlest soul. She tends to see the world as a big, scary place, and it makes you just want to shower her with as much love and affection as possible. Shaunty would really benefit from finding someone with lots of patience to help her build her confidence. She came to us on 10/2/24 with nursing puppies in tow. All of her puppies have since left, but sweet shy Shaunty is still looking for a love to call her own.

We’re not sure what life was like for Shaunty before coming to our shelter, but we can infer it must have been pretty tough. She can be a little shy and is easily intimidated by sudden movements. Despite her fears she’s never been anything other than kind! She doesn’t seem to have much leash experience, and totally freezes in confusion and nerves when you put one on her. She’s willing to put in the work on that if you’ll help her though! At the moment her preferred method of travel is being carried around. She weighs under 40 lbs and she’s quite calm, so it’s easy to lift and carry her! It also helps sneak in some extra cuddles. Her personality really shows through when she gets some time loose in the play yard. After a minute to settle in and check out what’s going on around her she enjoys trotting around. We may see her turn into quite the toy lover – she’s expressed an interest in squeaky toys and it’s great to see her real personality shine through when she gets to playing.
