My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

“WILL YOU BE MY VALENTINE?” Beetlejuice is a real LOVER BOY who is looking for love and, if you don’t show it, he will nudge your hand until you pet him… a lot! This sweet senior (10 years old, 18 lbs.) loves people, young and old. And, boy, does he love other dogs! In fact, his perfect home would have a doggie pal in it (cats are an unknown). On top of that he’s housebroken, loves his crate, likes going for short walks (even in this cold weather), rides well in the car and is just all-around good company, especially if you bring him onto the couch to watch TV with you.

Juice’s typical day consists of a walk or two (with potty breaks in the yard in between), 2 meals per day & lots of treats, sleeping on his bed near you wherever you are and perhaps chewing on a bone (even though he only has 7 teeth!) He really is an easy & pleasant dog to have around but he is not perfect: due to chronic dry eye, he will need eye meds for the rest of his life (offer him a treat & he’ll be good for his meds) and he can’t go up/down the stairs inside the house. He will go up and down the 4 outdoor steps we have though & he goes potty as soon as he’s out there – this cold motivates him to do his business & get back inside!

Beetlejuice is neutered, microchipped & up to date on vaccines. He is a member of the NorthStar Pet Rescue family based in Boonton, NJ. The first step is to submit an adoption application at www.northstarpets.org. Volunteers will process your application. Please be patient!

In a very very small number of situations, a home check may be needed if we have any questions or concerns after processing the application.

Meet the Pet

A meet and greet will be arranged for approved applicants with you and your entire family including your current pets.

In many areas of the country, especially in the South, the situation for animals is desperate: Chained outside and starving, homeless and running loose, or just simply no longer wanted and abandoned in an overburdened and underfunded facility that can’t possibly take another.
