Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Crinkles is a staff and especially, a volunteer favorite. We sit on the floor with her and soak up as much love and attention as we can give her. As an old lady, she has funny little front legs and a funky head tilt. This girl is a cat anyone could fall in love with. And of course, she enjoys catnip toys and treats. *Crinkles is part of the Reading Room Retirement Gang*
Meet the Reading Room Retirement Gang!
As we so often find, this group is another group of cats that found their way to us after their elderly owner unfortunately had to move to a nursing home and family was unable to take them in. Senior animals who have to adjust from a quiet home setting to the busy, loud shelter life just struggle so badly. None of them ask for their lives to be turned completely upside down and it breaks our hearts to see them so confused. These five have been with us since August, all living together in our Reading Room. A young volunteer has been spending time with them almost daily and we have really been seeing progress with them finally. Roosevelt (brown tiger), Crinkles (dark calico), Ruth (lighter calico) and Liddy (brown/white tiger) are now coming out for attention and sleeping beside or near the volunteers which is a huge improvement compared to them just hiding petrified in their crates. Sherman (black/white) is still so terrified and the owner herself said he was her most shy cat even in her house but we feel there is someone out there willing to give him a safe place to settle into. All of the cats (except poor Sherman who is still learning to trust humans) are super duper sweet and love lots of attention.
All five of these cats are seniors and are truly craving to move back into a warm, loving, relaxed living situation again.
