Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This is Ollie! A 10 month old Husky mix who found himself on the E-List at MCACC for fear. Ollie previously comes from a backyard breeding home where he spent all of his time from the moment he was born until he was surrendered to MCACC. He was not socialized to people or animals outside of his small home so when he arrived at the very big and loud shelter, Ollie was timid and afraid. When we visited him in the shelter, we saw a sweet, shy dog who needed some love to help him build his confidence and open up!
Being a shy dog, Ollie took a few weeks to settle into his foster home. In that time he has made a lot of progress with his potty training! He knows how to use the doggie door, but does still have accidents. Ollie displays a lot of common puppy/husky behaviors such as counter surfing, people jumping, trash digging, and shoe stealing. With dedicated training, especially at this young age, we believe he is capable of breaking these bad habits. Ollie is very motivated by food and praise and is easily redirected. He is a boy who is eager to please, and we believe he will thrive with the right direction and training!
Ollie is a cuddly, affectionate boy who loves a good nap, and when the moment is right his zoomies kick in and he is ready to play. His favorite game right now is fetch! Walks are very new to Ollie but that has not stopped him from putting on his leash and getting out there! Because he has such excitement for walks, and he is still learning his leash manners, he does pull on his leash.
Ollie’s ideal home has patience and structure. He takes time to warm up to new faces both inside and outside the home. He is very playful with the other dogs in his foster home and while he is still learning boundaries, he understands and respects corrections from the other dogs. He would do great in a home with other young playful dogs! Ollie has shown some evidence of separation anxiety and he is not a huge fan of being crated. For this reason he would do great in an environment where he is not left alone for long hours. Ollie cannot wait to be your loving companion!
