Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Chief, the big, goofy 3-year-8-month-old boy who’s ready to find a home full of love and attention! Weighing in at 88 lbs, Chief is a gentle giant who thrives on interaction with his humans. He absolutely loves being petted and enjoys spending time with his family. When it comes to toys, he’s super engaged and loves playing with them – he’s very interactive and will happily entertain you with his fun-loving nature.
Chief can be a bit demanding when it comes to snackies, but he does know how to settle into a polite sit for a treat! He may pull on the leash during walks, but once he’s had the chance to burn off some energy, he tends to do better and walks with more ease.
This lovable boy does have some separation anxiety, so he’ll need a home where someone is around more often than not to give him the attention he craves. The good news is that he is crate trained, so he’s comfortable when it’s time to settle down. Chief would thrive in a home that can provide plenty of mental and physical stimulation to keep him happy and engaged.
While Chief does jump up to get attention, he is easily redirected, making him a great fit for a family who’s willing to continue working with him on his manners. If you're looking for a fun, affectionate, and interactive companion who loves to play and be loved on, Chief could be the perfect addition to your home!
As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.
To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
