She was placed into our adoption program on October 29, 2024. Since before Halloween she has won the hearts of our staff and volunteers. Why has Lizzie waited so long? Probably due to the fact she tested positive for heartworm disease, a treatable condition, but a factor that makes potential adopters quickly look past her. We are here tonight to put a plea out for a very deserving dog and to proudly say Arlington Animal Services will cover the cost of her heartworm treatment to her new family. The only thing her new family will need to worry about is the love and care they will provide Lizzie, we will take over the heartworm treatment. At 96 days, we feel like Lizzie is starting to lose hope. She is becoming more anxious in her kennel, and we know we need to find her a home quickly. Thanks to our amazing staff and volunteers, she is getting lots of love and extra TLC while we make this plea. Like today, she got to go on a nice long walk on the trails outside of the shelter with her best friend, AAS Volunteer Sam. Sam let us know that Lizzie is such a happy girl when she is out. She walks well on a leash, is very easy to control, and did great with other dogs and people walking past. She LOVES treats and is very gentle taking them. Lizzie has also been a star while at off site adoption events and again, is loved by everyone who takes the chance to meet her. As a VIP Adoptable Dog, Lizzie can be adopted for just $10!!! She is already spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped! As a final reminder, while a heartworm positive dog, Arlington Animal Services is proud to sponsor her treatment.
