Meet Ollie - The Shy but Sweet Pup of the Hooks Hound Litter!
Ollie is a gentle soul who may take a little time to warm up, but once he’s comfortable, his sweet and affectionate side shines through. Rescued from the woods as a tiny puppy with his siblings, Ollie has come a long way, but he’s still a bit tentative in new situations. He’s not the type to hide under the bed, but he may need a little patience and gentle encouragement to feel at ease in unfamiliar environments.
Ollie is a great companion for other dogs and enjoys their company, though he may need a bit more time than his siblings to adjust to new people. Once he does, you’ll see how loving and loyal he can be. Ollie is great with older children, though his slightly reserved nature might be better suited for kids who can give him space to come around at his own pace. He has not had much exposure to cats but could be tested if needed.
When it comes to leash training, Ollie is still figuring things out. He doesn’t hate the leash, but he’s a bit confused by it and is still learning how to walk confidently on one. A patient owner who can provide consistent training will help him build his confidence and learn to love walks. Ollie is also great in the car, always crated for safety during rides, and is learning to signal when he needs to go outside for potty breaks thanks to the doggy door in his foster home.
Like his siblings, Ollie loves being active and would thrive in a home where he gets plenty of exercise and attention. A fenced yard where he can run and play would be perfect for him. He’s an energetic pup, but with some time and patience, Ollie will make an incredibly loyal and loving companion.

More about this rescue
PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.
Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.
