Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Zoey, affectionately known as Zoey Moey Shmoey to her friends.
Zoey has a tragic background, found to be living in a crowded backyard with countless other dogs, nursing puppies of her own. After wandering into a neighbor’s yard with one of her pups, New Braunfels Animal Welfare and Rescue scooped them up!
Shortly after her arrival, Zoey was diagnosed with heartworms, a life-threatening condition if left untreated. Determined to give Zoey the best chance at recovery, HSNBA went above and beyond to find her a loving foster home, where she has been thriving for the past three months!
Zoey has gained so much confidence in foster care and is growing stronger and healthier every single day. Her foster family reports that she is one of the most loyal and loving dogs they’ve ever had! Zoey is happiest when she’s by someone’s side, so she would likely thrive with an owner who works from home, though this isn’t a requirement. She’s not a big fan of the crate, but she’s fully potty trained, so leaving her out is typically not an issue.
Zoey has done fantastic with all of the dogs she’s met and loves to romp around with her buddies! Unfortunately; her playful energy makes a home without cats a must—the temptation to chase is just too strong!
She’s also an absolute toy enthusiast, going wild for squeaky toys and even entertaining herself by tossing them into the air. As an added bonus, she’s got a love for jumping into leaf piles, which is beyond adorable. Zoey can get a little jumpy and mouthy when excited, so she would do best in a home without small children.
Zoey is in the final stages of her heartworm treatment! She just needs two more monthly doses of Barrier heartworm prevention (provided by the shelter) before she can be retested in March. We’re on the lookout for a foster-to-adopt home to help Miss Zoey transition into her forever family.

I am currently in a foster home and not at HSNBA, if you are interested in meeting me, please contact the nice folks at HSNBA so they can put you in contact with my foster family to set up a meet & greet. E-mail HSNBA at adoption@hsnba.org, call us at: (830) 629-5287 or stop by and speak with the folks at HSNBA at 3353 Morningside Dr. to get your information sent over to my foster home. My foster family is the best and can give you more information on me.
I have tested heartworm positive. This means I have a parasite and need treatment. While my friends at HSNBA desperately want to help me, the shelter is too stressful an environment to undertake treatment and treatment itself is very expensive. The shelter has a few options to help with treatment, and if I steal your heart you should talk with them and your vet about what my treatment is like. For more information on heartworms, please visit the American Heartworm Society here https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basicsHSNBA lists all animals online from the moment of intake, and our listings are updated automatically every midnight. Some of these animals may not be available for adoption at this moment, but you can always call the shelter at 830-629-5287 for clarification on the adoption process or the animal's current status.
