My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm from Texas!

From her foster: Fifi is the sweetest and so very gentle deserving dog to find a patient family. She loves other dogs of any size and she reads them well to see if they want to play or be left alone. She has given all dogs and a cat here the time to get to know her on there time. She leaves our cat alone completely but they at times do go nose to nose for a good sniff and then go in there own direction. She goes potty outside on a schedule or if you are gone for a lot longer day than normal she is willing to use a pee pad if one is by the door she normally goes out. She has done no damage to our home and is left out at all times. She does have a dog bed in two areas of our house that she loves to use and also does sleep on our bed at times. She sleeps through the night in our bedroom. Fifi plays with dog toys and also enjoys a good bone. Once she gets to know you she trusts you but is still skittish with loud unfamiliar sounds or new people come by her. She will take time to come out of her shell but once she does you will see why rescue/adoption is so worth all the extra time that you spend with her to make her feel secure and loved. She loves the female adult in the house the most. They have spent the most time with her and she has a normal human/dog relationship with. She is still learning to trust the adult male in the home which doesn’t spend as much time with her. Whoever adopts her will need to know whoever lives in the home will have to spend time gaining her trust. Once you have it she will love and play with that person like any other dog. She is scared of a lot of extra movement so I would say she is a no for small children at this time. She would not hurt anyone, she just wouldn’t be as happy and relaxed. She is potty trained on a schedule and sleeps all night quietly. She loves to run around the yard when it’s warm enough for her. She prefers just a quick potty break if it’s really cold out. She most likely would do better in a home with another friendly dog but may do just fine. She seems to be more scared of men so if there is a man in the house that relationship will most likely take longer.

From the vet team: It was discovered that I have degenerative joint disease likely secondary to hip dysplasia and possible fracture. I received an orthopedic surgery (FHO) to help with this and I have been doing well since the procedure!

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

For more information on fostering or adoptable animals, please visit https://www.thebondbetween.org.

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
