Meet Ginger!
- Absolutely adores humans and responds well to attention and praise.
-Good with kids, will snuggle and crawl in their laps.
-Awesome runner with great leash skills. Loves runs, walks, playing fetch, and hikes, and then naps on the couch for hours
- Loves stuffed toys—but beware, she’s a master at pulling out the stuffing!
- Rides well in the car; enjoys looking out the window.
- Crate-trained angel. Goes in willingly, sleeps through the night, and stays quiet—perfect crate manners!
- Excellent house manners in her foster home. No counter surfing and only chews her own toys.
- Dog dynamics: Okay with other dogs but can lack manners, tries to herd, and resource guards from other dogs (not people).
- Trainable. Highly responsive to corrections and eager to please.
- Fence jumper! Can clear a 4-foot fence, so secure supervision is a must.
Ginger is a smart, loving girl ready to thrive in a structured home with patient and experienced adopters! She is so much fun and loves adventure! Ginger is a curious pup who is ready to make a person or family very happy!!

Adoption Donations are $275 for an adult, $375 for puppies (a dog under one year of age), and $175 for a senior dog (based on the age of the dog). More "sought out breeds may have a higher adoption donation) Adoption donations are to be made via cash, or credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards. We do not accept checks for adoption fees.
Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption.
We typically have adoption events on Wednesdays 5-7pm, Fridays 6-8pm, and Saturdays 11am-3pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process.
Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs and families, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 3 days.
