My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Callie – Ready to Find Her Forever Home!

Callie is a stunning and friendly girl who was left on the streets of Chapala, Mexico. She made herself comfortable outside a home, cheerfully inviting herself in whenever the gates opened. Local construction workers and neighbourhood folks looked after her by providing food and water, and eventually, she charmed her way into the home, winning over her kind rescuer who took her in as a foster.

So this is what we know about Callie, straight from her foster:

Callie is a 2-year-old German Shepherd mix, fully grown at around 50 lbs.

Callie is a fun and friendly goofball who loves nothing more than playtime! The “Chuck It” ball is her favourite toy and she's a pro at fetch. She gets the best exercise from simply playing ball!

True to the Shepherd breed, Callie is highly intelligent and eager to learn. She's very food motivated and learns best with treats. She completed a month-long “board and train” program for basic obedience and picked up commands quickly. She’s fully house-trained, crate-trained, and can be kenneled for 4-5 hours without any accidents or anxiety. She also travels well in the car and walks comfortably on a leash, responding well to verbal corrections when needed.

While she’s energetic and loves to play, Callie also enjoys her downtime and sleeps perfectly through the night. With her intelligence and agility, she could excel in activities like flyball, agility training, or scent work.

Callie really enjoys playing with other dogs! At her foster home, she lives with 7 other rescue dogs of various ages, sizes, and breeds. She plays well with both large and small dogs, though her excitement can lead to rowdy play. She would do great with another dog who likes tumbling around. Callie has not lived with cats, so her compatibility with kitties is unknown.

She has been around kids and enjoys their company but has not lived with them full-time. Due to her playful energy, she’d be best suited for a home with children aged 8 and up.

Callie will make an incredibly devoted dog for her future family. She has endless love for her humans and her cheerful personality always brings smiles & laughter. All she needs now is a forever home where she can share all the love she has to give. If you’re looking for an active, intelligent, and affectionate dog, Callie could be your perfect match!
