My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

ATDR 3610

Meet Julian, this very handsome boy was surrendered to ATDR with his brother Canelo and both tested positive and were treated for heartworms. They were living in a wire kennel outdoors in the summer heat. When someone reported them being outside, they were surrendered and made it just in time for Hurricane Beryl the following day!

We are very grateful for our rescue friends who helped us save these boys and they have learned to trust in their foster home. They are EXTREMELY SWEET, very bonded and would only be happy in a home together. These guys have been through a lot, so a bit of patience may be required to make them feel comfortable. They are a little shy, but in a short time they will warm up and soak up the love and attention! They will require a forever home with an experienced dachshund owner as they seem to like to roam...they need a securely fenced yard with no hurricane fencing, as they are climbers. They also need a place where the only kind of chicken on the property that could be on their menu is Colonel Sanders!

These two precious guys are very smart and have come a long way since they came into rescue in the summer and they're now ready and eager for a forever home and human to call their own! Considering their former life before ATDR, they're not at all hard to live with and already reasonably well minded. They get along well with all the pups and people in their foster home. If you're an experienced dachshund owner looking for two gorgeous younger ones for companions to love, enjoy and share life with, please submit an adoption application for Julian and Canelo! Given a little time and gentle attention, they'll be wonderful best friends for some lucky someone!

More about this rescue

All Texas Dachshund Rescue, Inc., is made up of a group of volunteers whose primary goal is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home disabled and otherwise endangered Dachshunds who have found themselves homeless for one reason or another. It is our policy that no dogs will be adopted out without first being spayed or neutered, have had all vaccines updated, are heartworm negative, are on heartworm preventative, and have had all other health issues we consider important to the pet’s life addressed that we are able.

All incoming Dachshunds will be placed in temporary foster homes, where they will be evaluated while living indoors with the foster families in a safe and nurturing home environment, until such time as they are ready to be placed in a loving, adoptive, forever home.

A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
