My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Surge, your potential new best friend. I'm a senior chap, but don't let that fool you. I've got a heart full of love and a spirit that's as spry as ever, and a voice to match, but I'm all talk. My favorite pastimes? Being a couch potato, enjoying leisurely car rides, and giving out free snuggles. I'm a smart guy, already house and leash trained. I appreciate the quieter things in life, like a good nap or a calm evening with you. I may not be a young pup anymore, but I promise, my loyalty and love are ageless. If you're looking for a sweet, friendly, and cuddly companion, I'm your guy. Adopt me and let's make beautiful memories together.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1971 as the Animal Aid Society of Englewood, Suncoast Humane Society began with a few cages where people left stray animals to be cared for. Over the years, our service area has grown to include over 400 square miles, covering three counties: Sarasota, Charlotte and portions of Lee.
Suncoast Humane Society provides a safe refuge for thousands of lost, abandoned and abused animals from our service area each year. We are committed to our open-door policy of never turning any animal away, regardless of health, temperament, breed or circumstances.
