Meet Zeland! This lively, one-year-old pup is a bundle of curiosity and joy. With his playful spirit and friendly nature, he’s ready to be someone’s loyal sidekick. Zeland could use a little basic training to refine his manners—he tends to jump when excited and pulls slightly on the leash during walks. However, he’s eager to please and already knows “sit” (most of the time!).
Zeland would thrive in an active household that can provide him with regular exercise, whether that’s long walks, outdoor adventures, or playtime in the yard. He’d do well in most homes and can’t wait to meet someone who appreciates his zest for life.
If you are interested in adopting, please visit the shelter during adoption hours. Be sure to let the front desk know the name of the dog you are interested in visiting. Once you have met with the dog and an application has been approved, we will then ask to complete a meet and greets with any dog(s) that are currently living in the home or visit frequently.

Thursday: 2:30pm-5pm
Saturday & Sunday: 12pm-4:30pm

The Humane Society of Scott County (HSSC) has been an advocate for the humane care of all animals in Scott County, Iowa, since 1902.
An average of 500 pets arrive at the HSSC each month. About 80% come to us as strays and the rest are surrendered by owners who can no longer keep or care for their pets.
The HSSC is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization funded entirely by donations, adoption fees and a fee charged to the city and county for the care of the animals.
