My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Freckles, an active, athletic dog with a personality to match! Freckles is the kind of dog who thinks he has springs in his legs — when he gets excited, he’ll jump so high in the air it’s almost like he’s defying gravity! His enthusiasm for life is infectious, and he loves showing off his jumping abilities. Freckles is incredibly smart and eager to please. He responds to commands and comes when called, always ready to hang out and be with his favorite people. He’s looking for a home with a family who can match his energy and help him channel it into fun activities. Whether it’s hiking, playing Frisbee, or learning new tricks, Freckles will be your enthusiastic and dedicated partner.
If you’re looking for a dog with a playful spirit, boundless energy, and the potential to be your next adventure buddy, Freckles may be just the companion you’re looking for. To bring Freckles into your home and heart, fill out an adoption application today at www.hsnei.org/adoptabledogs.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Northeast Iowa (HSNEI) is a 501(c)(3) humane society founded in 1995, in Decorah, Iowa, to help homeless companion animals in the five-county area of Northeast Iowa (Allamakee, Clayton, Fayette, Howard, and Winneshiek counties). Since our founding, we have offered numerous services including dog and cat rescue, fostering and adoption services, humane education, safety and family fun fairs, microchipping for pet identification, financial assistance in spaying/neutering and pet referral services.

Our rescue and adoption program provides temporary care at the Love & Friendship Adoption Center and in foster homes for unwanted and abandoned animals. We also provide a website to help in finding adoptive homes for these animals.

In 2013 the Spay/Neuter Assistance Program of Northeast Iowa (SNAP) joined HSNEI to become one organization working for animals in northeast Iowa.

HSNEI is a Best Friends Network Partner and a PetCo Foundation Partner.
