Meet Phoebe! She is a sweet girl & has evolved into a mega couch potato. She likes to sit in her foster family's lap and get head scratches. Phoebe has become more confident over time and has started exploring a bit more of her foster family's house, but the couch is still “base” for her. Phoebe loves attention and scratches, but she is shy about asking for them.
Phoebe is good with other cats. Phoebe's foster Mom has a queen bee cat & Phoebe did all the right things… she laid down, she had her head down, and she even showed her belly. She has also played with kittens that weren’t hers. Phoebe's foster Mom also has a "problem child" cat & Phoebe did not back down to her. They’re slowly becoming friends.
Phoebe is also good with her foster Mom's dog. She wasn’t at first, but the dog is good about ignoring & giving the cats their space, so Phoebe is OK with him. Phoebe's foster Mom's dog does get the zoomies & this has spooked Phoebe sometimes, but usually she just watches him. Sometimes Phoebe even gets the zoomies along with the pup!
Phoebe doesn’t like to be picked up or grabbed at, so she will probably not be good with young kids.
As sweet as Phoebe is, she will let you know when she’s had enough & will swat at you with her paw, but won't use her nails. She sometimes will also nibble on you, but again not hard. We can't blame a kitty for establishing boundaries, though, can we? :)
Interested in adopting a kitty?!
The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application, which is located on our website at: www.rescueandadopt.org/adopt.
Please remember to include:
1) Your $15 adoption deposit, which will be subtracted from the adoption fee, if you are approved to adopt.
2) Vet records for any current cats or dogs in the home. For cats, we require that they are up to date on their rabies and FVRCP vaccines and seen for an annual wellness exam. For dogs, we require that they are up to date on their rabies vaccine and seen for an annual wellness exam.
3) Permission from your landlord if you rent from a private landlord. We can verify pet policies at apartment complexes.
4) Proof of home ownership if you do NOT live in Maryland.
Adoption fees: $150 for kittens and cats under 5 years old. $125 for cats 5 years old and over. We do offer a 15% discount for adopting 2 ADULT cats (over 1 year old) at once, and for certain professions -- first responders, teachers and active or former members of the military.
