My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOCATION: Fincastle, VA
DOB: 01/21/2021

Meet Izzi, a playful and goofy girl with a heart full of love and a story that tugs at your heartstrings. Izzi's journey began when her current owner took her in for a friend who never came back for her. Now, due to changing circumstances, Izzi is looking for a new home where she can receive the time and attention she deserves.

Izzi is a social butterfly who loves dogs of all sizes, though she's never lived with another dog or met a large one. She thrives at dog parks, playing wonderfully with medium and small dogs. When on a leash, Izzi gets excited to meet other dogs, showing no aggressive reactions. While her experience with cats is unknown, she's great with kids, making her a fantastic family companion.

This smart girl is housebroken, leash trained, and knows basic obedience. She's also a pro in the car, making her a perfect travel buddy. Izzi prefers to be indoors and will scratch at the door to come inside. When meeting new people, she may bark initially, but it's all friendly once she gets a sniff. She's had people from ROVER come over, and she's been perfectly fine with unknown visitors taking care of her, never showing any aggression.

Izzi has a soft spot for stuffed toys and tennis balls, and she'll cuddle all day if you let her. However, she respects your personal space if told to go lay down. She's a bit scared of storms, the air fryer, and the oven, and will follow you around when she's nervous. After her zoomies, Izzi can be quite lazy, enjoying the comfort of a cozy spot.

Izzi is looking for someone who has the time, space, and love to give her. If you're ready to welcome a playful, goofy, and loving companion into your home, Izzi is waiting to bring joy and laughter into your life.

More about this rescue

To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.

To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.

We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity. You can help us achieve our mission by donating funds, items from our wishlist, items of relevance, your time through volunteering, or by lending your home as a foster.
