Hello, I'm Hemlock. The world is a bit daunting to me, but I'm slowly learning to navigate it. I'm a bit shy when meeting new people, it takes me a while to warm up. But once I do, I'm the most loyal friend you could ask for. I'm independent, you see. I like to explore my surroundings, sniffing out new adventures. I'm gentle, too. I'm pretty mellow but, not one for sudden movements or loud noises you have to move very slow when meeting me. I like my peace and quiet. I may be a bit scared, but I'm also very curious. I'm eager to learn about you, about your world. I want to be part of it. I want a home, a family. I want to feel safe and loved. So, why should you adopt me? Because I promise to be the best companion you could ever ask for. I'll be by your side, through thick and thin. All I ask for in return is a bit of patience, a bit of understanding. 1.
Submit Application

If you see an animal you would like to meet, complete our online application. You will receive an email with the next steps.

2.
Meet the Pet

Visit the facility where the animal is located. If in foster care, the foster will set up a time to meet with you.

3.
Sign Adoption Contract

One of our adoption counselors will review the animal's medical history and walk you through the paperwork.

4.
Pay Fee

Our adoption fees include spay/neuter, vaccinations and microchip.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Once the adoption process is complete, you can bring your furry friend home!

Our mission is to provide the programs and services needed to eliminate the killing of at-risk animals due to lack of space, adopter or foster.

San Antonio Pets Alive! is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Due to alarming euthanasia rates, San Antonio Pets Alive! (SAPA!) was founded in 2012. SAPA! is unique—it is the only high paced, high-volume rescue in San Antonio, saving 6,000 at-risk cats and dogs annually.

Since its inception, SAPA! has saved more than 47,000 dogs and cats. SAPA! provides safety nets for the dogs and cats that fall through the cracks of all other lifesaving options and end up on the euthanasia lists, often with just hours to be saved. SAPA! promotes the availability of these dogs and cats to other rescues, adopters and fosters.
