My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Cannoli and I am looking for a home of my own! I’m smaller than I might look in my photos, at just 38 pounds of adorable. The perfect size, I think! I’m very social and really love to hang out with my people. Being in your lap is just about my favorite thing in the world, and I love to follow you around the house – kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, wherever! I just wanna be near you. :)

I came from unknown but likely humble beginnings, as my first family surrendered me to the pound. My foster mom and dad think this is the first time I’ve lived inside a house – at first I was very scared of everything and every sound, but I’m quickly learning a lot about what living with a family is all about and I love it! <3

I came into rescue heartworm positive, but I’ve now completed my treatment and I’m all set! All I’ll need is a monthly preventative, just like all dogs.

Toys are my favorite, especially balls I can chase and chew. If I don’t have someone to throw the ball for me, no worries! I’m smart and learned to throw it around for myself! But it’s always more fun to have someone to play with. I do live with a foster fur sister and I am good with other dogs with proper introductions.

Although I’m estimated to be about three years old, I still have a good bit of puppy energy in me and love to go on walks and play play play. A home with another playful dog would be awesome! I’m still learning to walk well on a leash, but I’m smart and it won’t be long. I’ve already mastered "sit," and I am good in my crate and sleep there every night.

I’ve mastered potty training with my foster family’s doggie door (told ya I'm smart!). I would love to have a family who can teach me even more commands and how to behave well in all sort of situations so you can take me with you wherever you go!

If you have all the things I am looking for, please apply to adopt me! Now that my heartworm treatment is behind me, I’m ready for my forever family with YOU!

Additional adoption info

Adoption application required. Adoption Fee is $200-350 local (Local is state of Texas) $500-800 for out of state adoptions (includes transport fees).. The higher prices for Purebred and/or highly desirable pets. Adoption application, adoption contract, return/foster agreement if dog doesn't work out in home.

We work hard to place dogs in the right homes, if the adoption does not work out and we have room to take the dog back into the rescue, we will. However, the sheer number of needy animals in Bexar county TX +usually means we become full quickly after the dog is adopted. So, in those cases we will post the animal, help the adopter screen applicants and help facilitate finding another home for the dog.
