IN FOSTER and here is what they have to say about Dixie:
Dixie is incredibly sweet and listens well. She is housebroken but needs to be let out often. If I leave house I leave our slider open so she can go out back often. She is gentle when taking food from hand but is protective of her feeding bowl. In foster they have two older smaller dogs, 12 and 17 years old. She pretty much leaves them alone. Our Shepsky is 6 years old like Dixie and they really enjoy each other. Thankfully Gunna (shepsky) is passive as Dixie gets pretty assertive as she is an alpha female.
We haven’t had her around small children but she has done well in public settings. She will growl a little but can be corrected when men approach. I don’t want to say she is fearful of men because she prefers my husband over myself if has the choice. Since being in our home for a couple months she is protective and a great watch dog. She is very active and athletic and beyond excited to go places. Dixie was excessively drool in car so may get a little carsick or anxious.
