Thank you for your interest in one of our amazing dogs, please how our meet and greets work. We are by appointment only, all our meet and greets are outside on the same property as the shelter, under our covered, fenced area, so we must schedule appointments. If a dog is on our website, it is available for adoption. We do not schedule multiple meetings with different people for the dog on the same day. We do meet and greets Tuesday-Saturday, no night meets. We have questions at the bottom of each dog’s bio, by answering the questions in your inquiry, you help move things along, it is okay if you do not, we will send an e-mail back to you with those questions. It does not matter if you are a homeowner or renter, but please check with your rental company for breed and weight restrictions. If this will be an ESA dog, get approval from your rental company first. Our dogs are listed on Petfinder (purchased by Purina), Adopt-a-pet and rescueme.org or you can e-mail us directly at shelter@hbpets.org with questions about the dog, please be sure to say who you are asking about. Lastly, we do review all applicants, so if you are looking to get a dog today or in the next 24 hours, we may not be the right place, by taking a little more time and reviewing we have decreased our yearly dog returns to 1%. Meet Queenie, approx 8-9yrs old, soon to be spayed female, Pitbull. Queenie came in stray and we immediately fell in love with her. Queenie has loved every human she has met, but would do best in a home with children over 10yrs or no children, she loves dogs who are gentle like her. She loves to wander aorund the yard, sun bath, get her zoomies out (for maybe 10 minutes), she loves car rides, she is housebroken, loves comfy beds, likes to tell you about her day. Queenie knows sit, stay, leave-it, down (never jumps on people), kennel, walks fairly well on harness. She would love to be the queen of you home, preferably with a comfy bed and a ridiculous amount of treats.
My adoption fee is $150. This includes spay, routine blood work, vaccines, microchip, dewormer, flea treatment, tested for Heartworm/Tick and a 1lb bag of food.

Senior citizens (65 & older) and Military/1st responders receive a 20% discount, excluding puppies and kittens)
All cats/kittens are spayed/neutered and are tested for Felv/Fiv, vaccinated with FVRCP and Rabies (age dependent), dewormed, flea treated and have a microchip. Some kittens and cats may need a booster vaccine for FVRCP.
All dogs/puppies are spayed/neutered, vaccinated with Bordetella, DHPP or DHLPP, Rabies (age dependent), dewormed, flea treated, and have a microchip.
*We pay for the 1st year of membership for our microchips.
