My name is Jeanne! I'm a 10-year-old beagle, weighing in at 26 pounds. I' ve come a long way since I became an Angel dog with a severe medical condition called IMHA - Immune medicated hemolytic anemia that affected my liver. I'm told that I have had the best medical care in my last 2 years with the rescue ranging from multiple ER visits, regular vet appointments, specialist and continual labs with follow up appointments along with prescription medications. With this life changing event with my liver, I will have to remain on a liver protectant the rest of my life and I cannot have vaccines for the rest of my life due to the possibility of causing a relapse. I know it is a huge commitment, but I will have "extra requirements for my ongoing care" for the rest of my life including recheck of a CBC (complete blood count) every 3 to 6 months working closely with my veterinarian and avoiding exposure to contagious diseases - this includes group settings with unknown dogs, boarding environments, kennel environments or environments with wildlife.
I'm really g ood at sleeping the day away in a dog bed , the couch, sometimes the floor and let's not forget about taking naps out on the deck in the sun. I sleep in the human's bed curled up against one of them or in a dog bed on the floor in the bedroom. I can sleep the entire night away - no worries there and won't get up until you tell me we have to or that it's time for breakfast ! I love simply being touched and petted, given treats and food. I'm not destructive and don't have potty accidents in the house, but I do throw up from time to time. I'm 100% trustworthy and never crated. I'll let you know by barking when I need/want to go outside.
Here's a little info: I enjoy being around other dogs - it's kind of crazy at my foster home because I've been around 7 other dogs, and we all like each other. I really just kind of hang with them and we are all just pretty much a pack, but I can be independent too. I guess if you can say "I get a little loud" when I know it's feeding time because I bark and carry on - that will be most energetic you will see me because it really is the highlight of the day along with when it's time to go upstairs to go to bed.
I would love to meet my new family soon; I've been waiting for you. If you would like to meet me, please submit an adoption application for me today!
