Possum is a big lover boy

Foster Home Feedback

3/13/25 Volunteer Feedback:
Oh this boy has my heart! Possum is snuggly and sweet and silly and a great walker. Very expressive eyes and just wants all the love!! This sweet boy needs a couch and cuddles.

1/30/2025 Foster Feedback: Possum is a gentle giant who loves nothing more than to cuddle up and feel like a baby. He’s eager to show affection and share his protective nature with those he cares about. His worst trait is he might not always realize just how big and strong he is. This can also show while walking him on a leash, which he is working hard on. Though he’s protective, especially when it comes to “his person,” Possum is submissive and social once he’s had a proper introduction to other dogs. He loves companionship and is a great dog to have around after building trust with new friends.

One of Possum's favorite things in the world? Car rides! He’s the perfect co-pilot, sitting patiently and calmly while you run errands—never causing a fuss, even with the engine running. He’s content sitting quietly in the car until you return, always ready to accompany you on the next adventure. When he's not enjoying his car rides, you’ll find him happily snoozing the day away. He is hard to keep off your furniture as he loves a cozy spot to lay next to you. He is always watching out for you. Whether you’re awake or asleep, he’ll be by your side, making sure you’re safe and sound. If you're looking for a sweet, loyal companion who will shower you with love and affection, Possum is ready to be your protector, your snuggle buddy, and your best friend.

11/29/24 Foster Feedback: Possum is truly a reminder of what "man's best friend" means.

Our house was feeling a little too quiet on a Saturday, so we decided to give a dog a kennel break for just one day to hang out at our house. We have an "alpha" type herding dog of our own that does not usually play the best with other dogs. After one night with Possum, we knew we HAD to foster him. He was so calm with our dog and our cat, and did not want to do much other than sleep. My dog will try to get him to play and when she is successful, he is so kind and plays so gently.

Possum just wants to be your weighted blanket. He loves a warm, comfy space to rest his big ol’ head. He is truly a gentle giant. He is fully potty trained and does not have any resource guarding issues. Possum gets a little protective around new men but warms right up. If you are looking for a loyal companion for your other dog or even just for yourself, consider Possum, He is such a cuddly friend.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

There is a pre-adoption application, reference check, and home visit required prior to adopting an animal. There is an adoption donation/fee applied to all dogs. This fee ranges from $100-150. These fees help cover the veterinary care we have provided for the animals while they wait for homes. The fee also helps pay for the food and other general care we provide for the dogs. You must be 21 yrs or older to adopt a dog and can not live in a an area where there are dog breed bans. We do adopt to homes outside on the area, but there are special requirements for out of state adopters.

Go meet their pets

We regularly have "Meet the Dogs!" events at the West Fargo PetSmart store. These events will give you the opportunity to meet some of the dogs we have available for adoption and to visit with our volunteers. See our website for schedule dates/times.
