Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Rockstar entered San Diego Humane Society-Oceanside as a stray. When he wasn't claimed, we scooped him up on November 19th to become a Frosted Face. Rockstar is around 7 years old and weighs 16 lbs.
Thanks to spending time in a foster home, Rockstar not only decompressed from the stress of his experiences as a stray and in a shelter, he really blossomed!
His Fling Mom reports:
"Rockstar has come a long way in 7 weeks! He has definitely gained some confidence, his silly side is coming out, and he seems to be relaxing more. It helped him to have other dogs around him, but I think he could live without dogs, too. With patience, gentleness, and understanding, Rockstar will continue to blossom!
Rockstar is frightened by you reaching to pet him over his head, but if you offer an open hand, palm up, he will come up and smell it! Initially he would shake and run away from us if we tried to pet him. Now when Rockstar up on the couch, he will allow slow gentle touch. He still doesn’t trust completely, but makes small improvements everyday!
Rockstar LOVES walks! He becomes a real dog, smelling, exploring and exercising. He walks well with my female dog and follows her lead.
Rockstar is timid when encountering dogs on walks. But he will go nose to nose with them, allows them to smell him and he will even smell them. He is very polite and quiet. I haven’t heard him bark yet.
Rockstar gets very excited and animated for meals. At first, I fed him in a separate room, but now he gets to eat with the pack.
Rockstar has learned how to use the doggie door and goes back and forth through it! He loves sunning himself and will snooze on grass or pavement! A backyard is a must!
Rockstar is a great sleeper. He easily can sleep 10+ hours at night!
Rockstar's family will need to be patient, calm, and gentle. He is still coming out of a fearful place, but everyday the improvement is encouraging.
In my opinion, food and plenty of walks is what will win Rockstar's heart. He relaxes so much outside and with a full belly!"
