Meet Cash ACCT-A-207571! Cash is a 1-year-old male who came in as an owner surrender on 1/17 due to Cash not being a good fit for the owners. Cash was here back in November of 2024 as a stray and was adopted a few days later.
Behavior Notes:
Per staff 1/18: “Cash in the room showed no interest in toys or me, trying to hide away. when I called for him, he would hesitantly come forward but dart away or lip lick if I got too close. I pulled the snare closer to me for some handling and he did side eye me a couple times but remained tolerant as I touched the top of his head and side. I just gave him lots of time and space. I offered him an hot dog which he took gently and slowly half way sat down for. Cash is very fearful and needs a quieter environment with no kids and a very tolerant and understanding family.”
Per staff 1/18: “Was able to check in Cash with the help of an another staff member. In kennel, Cash was very reactive, baring teeth, growling, lunging, pulling and snapping at the snappy snare and hard barking when i spoke to him. He pushed his head into the corner of the kennel so i was able to secure him. once secured he was fearful on leas hand kept looking back at me with any leash pressure and trying to dart away. Cash during intake was very nervous and unsure but tolerant. He wagged his tail for a couple of the nurses and allowed light handling. When it was time for his vaccines, he pushed his body into the nurse, seeking comfort. We were able to throw towels over to secure him while i held his head forward. He was shut down and allowed us to examine him and administer his vaccines + microchip.”
Per staff 1/17: “TTA, Pt began alligator rolling, baring teeth, and snapping at staff. Stiff body whole time.”
Per owner: “Super high energy, pulls on leash. Loves playing fetch, playing tug-of-war, going for walks, going to the dog park, hanging out with owners, snuggling/cuddling with owners. Has separation anxiety when home alone, pulls too hard on leash, mouthing or play biting, has accidents in the house, fearful of new people (stranger danger). Nervous/fearful/shy with strangers and children. Neutral/no reaction with dogs. Very energetic, loving, loves to cuddle and play, very smart and attentive, he loves to wear clothes and go for walks.
Behavior Notes From Previous Stay:
Per staff 11/24/2024: “Cash was being very growly and was snapping in kennel. Staff had trouble removing him and he escaped at one point, so I went back to help. He was still snapping and growling. With staff members help, he was leashed and brought up to the front. I then walked him to the car and tethered him to the seat.
Per staff 11/21/2024: “Got Cash out for a meet today - he was tense and gave me side eye when I went to get him from the kennel, so I presented the leash for him. He was unreactive, so I leashed him from ears to nose and opened the kennel. Initially he was hesitant to , so I crouched and used a baby voice and he darted out.
I used baby talk to get him about halfway through the kennel, at which point he began to pull backwards. I let him go backwards then attempted some leash pressure and baby talk. He took a few steps forward, then began to scream and gator roll and bare teeth. Called for behavior over walkie at which point staff short-armed him and took him to the eval room.”
Per staff 11/21/2024: “When going out for an adoption meet I saw Cash giving the staff member a hard time. He was starting to pancake and thrash, and when the adoption counselor tried to get him to keep moving he bared teeth and began to scream and gator roll. I called for the other behavior team member and she took the leash. When she took the leash Cash growled at her so she short armed the leash. She waited for a few moments for him to calm down a bit, and then walked him to the behavior room. In the room the handler crouched down and he approached her on his own. He was tolerant of handling but did a lot of lip licking and gave some whale eye. He warmed up as time went on allowing handling of his head and back but needed time to warm up.”
Per finder 11/21/2024: “Friendly, cuddly, shy, playful and pulls on leash.”
Medical Notes:
Per an exam on 1/18/2025: Staff was unable to check ears and mouth/teeth due to behavior. He was found to be in good general health and was noted to be “bright, alert, responsive, fearful and standoffish.”
Per an exam on 11/21/2024: “Tear stained eyes, ears are hairy, nose has clear discharge. He has an underbite and teeth have some yellow staining. He was noted to be very matted.” Staff noted that he was “bright, alert, responsive, fine and to go slow.”
