Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Freya is a sweet and adorable 6-year-old Doberman Pincher. She was originally adopted from a shelter, but then her new owner moved to an apartment and could not take her. 2024 was a tough year for this girl, but Anthem Pets has stepped in to help her. ♥
Very little is known about Freya’s past, but while in foster care she has shown to be friendly, playful and curious - clearly, she had been someone’s pet in her early years. Freya weighs about 50 pounds and can be a finicky eater, but she does LOVE a good treat! Every evening she would like to snuggle on the couch with you (and on the bed if you let her).
She walks well on a leash, is kennel trained, and house broken. Freya is learning “leave it” and improving her recall but has to be reminded to "sit". She can have moments of ADHD which can make training slower and will need an adopter with the patience and time to continue her training.
Freya gets very excited when meeting other animals, she has a herding/bird dog drive that makes her social skills intimidating to some dogs. With slow, proper introductions she can live in a home with other pets - she has become very good friends with the other dog in her foster home. She does better with larger dogs than small dogs or cats.
Freya can be a little demanding of attention and has to be reminded to be patient. She is missing most of her front teeth but still has some small canine teeth.
Freya's adoption fee of $200 includes a microchip, vaccinations, and spay surgery. If you would like to set up a Meet & Greet and be considered for adoption, please click on the button with the pet’s name to fill out an application. Someone will contact you within 24 hours. If you have difficulty with the application, please email us at Rescue@AnthemPets.org.
NOTE: Only Arizona based adoption inquiries will be considered.
