My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BONSAI UPDATE

#MadLoveBonsai located in Michigan here with an update.

Not too long ago this sweet puppy was red listed in a shelter after arriving without the ability to walk normally. Bonsai had a laceration around his leg and was in need of an FHO from damage to his rear legs.

Even though he was struggling and in pain this boy was still extremely sweet and loving.  He was gifted an amazing second chance and given a new 'leash' on life after getting the life changing surgery he needed to thrive.

In the blink of an eye this boy has made leaps and bounds on his healing journey and this baby faced sweetheart is rehabilitating wonderfully.

Bonsai is about 10 months old and eager to get on with life. He does well with people and dogs and is incredibly resilient. He's got great energy and right now, the sky is the limit.

If Bonsai seems like the boy for you, please apply at madrescueinc.org

Dear MAD pack,

My name is Bonsai and I am just a baby, not more than 10 months old and enjoying my second start at life!

First and foremost, thank you to everyone who sent me toys and treats for my recovery time after surgery. I've been known to favor my Wubba and toss it around like the fanciful king I am

I am originally from Texas. I was turned into one of the highest kill shelters in the country with some pretty severe injuries. This of course put me at the top of the liability list very fast.

I had a microchip that was traced back to my owners, they said they did not have room for me anymore.

There is a lovely lady who volunteers every single day at the shelter and she got the word out that I needed help and I was worth saving. She helps so many dogs, and I am grateful she was there for me. O

The shelter learned that I was in need of an FHO surgery (an orthopedic injury) and I had a large open wound on my other leg. This rendered me immobile and scared.

FHO surgeries are complicated, they are expensive, they need a lot of healing time and a lot of rehab....things were not looking great.

Enter...my foster momma. She is a veterinarian, she offered to give me a gift of healing to honor her doggos who had passed. With her very generous donation, I had a plan!

A very nice lady drove me all the way north to start my healing journey. It was a bit scary and very cold...but we were rolling with it.

Iabout a week later, I got my surgery. And both does my scar look good, for so much pain, just a tiny incision is all that's left behind. And that wound on my other leg? Almost all healed now.

I'm doing great here! I'm hopping alone, taking in the world and living my second chance.

I love people, some say I am a charmer, I love toys! Food is delightful. I'm doing well with other dogs. What more can I say?

While I heal, I'm ready to start reviewing applications for my family. The perfect family withh be loving, kind and considerate of my past. They will be able to slow down if I need it, provide an extra supportive bed and continue to feed my treat habit.

I'm excited to hear from you!

Good vibes and love,
Bonsai
