My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

4 y/o Rocket was an owner surrender. He had a huge cherry eye that covered his entire eye in addition to a bad ear infection; the family could no longer provide the care he needed. Rocket is a big boy at 16 inches and muscular 40 pounds.

Rocket’s house manners are great. With the use of a dog door. He stays out of stuff that does not belong to him but is tall enough to get his nose up on a kitchen counter to sniff out any goodies! I have no doubt that his house manners would not survive if you left out something edible!

Rocket is a talker. He likes to catch you up on all that happened when you were gone, even if it is just a trip to the mailbox! He barks when he is referring a beagle wrestling match or if he wants the attention of one of his foster siblings. Rocket would not do well in a home with shared walls!

Rocket was possessive of toys, food, and people. He is much better at sharing and will give up a toy if fairly won by another. Food is still a big issue, and he is crated at meals times and when treats are being given out.

Rocket does love attention. He has learned that it is ok to share the loving with another and happily sits for ear scratches right next to a beagle brother! Rocket is good around kids and adults. Rocket will make a wonderful family dog if you can tolerate a 40 pounds lap dog!

Go meet their pets

Check our website at www.HoustonBeagleRescue.org for info. We typically have meet & greet events on the second Sunday of each month, from noon to 3:00 p.m. and will always bring several of the rescued beagles to that event, so look up the location of the month on our website, and come meet some adorable beagles! We also periodically hold special activities, and occasionally attend Houston-area adoption events which will be listed on our "events" section of our website.
