My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Matiz!

Matiz entered San Bernardino City Shelter as a stray, and when not claimed, we scooped him up on November 24th to become a Frosted Face. He is around 10 years old and weighs 51 lbs.

Matiz is a very sweet boy and loves attention - petting, being brushed, and snuggling! He does well with other dogs in our play yards, is gentle with children, is a good walking buddy, and rides nicely in the car. He's a gem!

Matiz went on a two-week Frosted Fling over the holidays, and he earned rave reviews for an all-around good boy! His Fling Mom reports:

"Matiz is a super chill pup who has the cutest polar bear face and is so lovable. He would make a great addition to any family!

Matiz did well with a variety of people and ages. Our household includes me and my husband. He met several family members, adults, elderly, and kids (as young as 4 years old). He was receptive to everyone and liked meeting new people. He accepted gentle pets from the kids. He did well when meeting strangers in public, too.

Matiz is a great mix of having enough energy to get us out the door and exercise, while also being a couch potato and having no problem lounging around at home. He was always excited for his walks and would perk up when we grabbed the leash. He usually did well with 1.5-2 mile walks, sometimes longer, but generally tired out around the 2 mile mark. At home, he liked chasing his balls in the house and playing with the rope toys. He easily settles and slept through the night in our room quietly.

Matiz never had any accidents in our home. He was let out for potty breaks or walks every few hours, longest stretch during the day up to 5-6 hours.

Matiz encountered a variety of dogs in our neighborhood and beach while on walks. He always seemed eager to be around other animals. A few occasions, he did bark when passing other dogs on walks, but was easily redirectable. He had several interactions with our family members' dog at their house/yard and played well together.

Matiz is very smart and is learning some commands. He knows sit, shake, and drop it. He knows lie down when prompted.

Matiz is an awesome dog. We really enjoyed our time with him, and we are sure he will make his new family very happy!"

Matiz currently lives in a Foster home while he waits for his forever family. Might that be you?
