Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Coal!
Coal is a sweet and curious Sheprador pup who is looking for a forever home. He’s been in boarding kennels with his 5 siblings for several months and is more than ready to find a loving family to help him grow and learn.
As the biggest of his siblings, Coal is a bit timid at first, but he’s eager to explore and loves getting out on walks. He does well on the leash for a puppy and enjoys discovering new things. Coal is treat-motivated and quick to learn, making him a great candidate for training.
Coal shares a kennel with his sister Anise, and they get along well. They are fed separately due to some mild resource guarding, but this behavior is easily manageable with some training and patience. Coal is ready to thrive in a home with the right guidance!

About the Sheprador and Belgian Malinois Mix
German Sheprador Traits:
Size: Medium to large
Personality: Loyal, adaptable, and intelligent
Roles: Excellent family pets and working dogs in search and rescue, therapy work, and more
Belgian Malinois Traits (Minor Contribution):
Size: Medium to large, highly energetic
Personality: Protective, intelligent, and trainable
Roles: Ideal for roles like police work and obedience training
This mix combines the friendly, loyal nature of the German Sheprador with a touch of the intelligence and energy of the Belgian Malinois. The result is a versatile and adaptable pup who thrives in active environments, excelling in both family settings and working roles.
Care & Training
Training & Socialization: Coal will benefit from early training and socialization to ensure he grows into a confident, well-mannered dog. Positive reinforcement methods work best, as Coal is eager to please.
Exercise: Being an energetic breed, Coal will need regular physical and mental exercise to prevent boredom. Regular walks, playtime, and interactive training sessions will help him stay happy and healthy.
Grooming:
Regular brushing to manage shedding
Occasional baths with a gentle dog shampoo
Routine nail trims, ear cleaning, and dental care
Health Considerations
Bloat (Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus): Large, deep-chested breeds are at risk. To reduce this risk, feed smaller meals more frequently and avoid heavy exercise right after meals.
Obesity: Coal may be prone to obesity, so maintaining a balanced diet and ensuring he gets plenty of exercise is important for his long-term health.
Breed Disclaimer
Coal’s breed mix is based on DNA testing of one sibling and observations made by volunteers. His exact size, appearance, and traits may vary, and the information provided serves as a helpful guide. It is not a guarantee of specific genetic makeup.

We require a foster or adoption application to qualify to foster or adopt our animals. We do check your current veterinary reference and landlord approval if renting. The next step is a "meet and greet" with all family members and/or household occupants, and current pets. Upon approval, we offer a "trial adoption" period that allows adopter to make sure of a good fit for both the dog and family. Adoption is final when adoption contract (different from application) is filled out and signed, and adoption fee is paid. Our adoption fees range from $75 - $300 (puppies) currently, but are subject to revision if our veterinary costs rise.
