Are you seeking a loving and loyal companion with low energy, who will alert you to incoming delivery trucks?! If so, George may be your perfect match! This handsome dude is an extra-large Pyr mix with medium-length fur and the cutest freckles on his nose! He’s a sweetheart of an old man, wanting nothing more than to lay around, and be pet and loved. Be you a new friend, or an old one, he loves all people, all the time. - You won’t find a more docile and affectionate pup than George! He’s a smarty-pants too, as he walks well on leash, knows “sit,” and is learning to give his paw and “stay” on command. He doesn’t mind being brushed, and will gladly jump into the car for a ride. George had eye surgery on a reversed eye-lid that is still a little red, and he’ll need eye drops for the rest of his life. - That said, he takes the drops like a champ! He is building confidence in his foster home, and his foster dad says, “Watching him with my dogs is like watching a puppy slowly learn how to enjoy life.” George is curious, and eager to try new things, like running around in the yard, figuring out how to play with other dogs, and taste-testing all the snacks! He has no desire to escape, so a 4’ fence would suit him just fine. He’s always enjoyed the luxuries of indoor living, but is now starting to learn about the fun to be had in a yard, like having his very own digging hole to lay in! Lounging around is his main obsession, with a spurt of energy here and there when he will occasionally play with his canine foster siblings. This senior fella is grumpy with dogs he doesn’t know, and protective of his food from other pups at first, but with proper slow introductions he does just fine. He would do well as an only-dog, or with other low-key dogs and Pyr-experience people. His ideal home is a quiet one, where someone is home more often than not. He’d also prefer no stairs, as they are clearly sketchy and confusing. Curious George is ready for his next adventure in finding his furever home!

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
