ADOPTION PENDING

Lucky's foster mom has lots of good stuff to share about him!  She describes him as attentive but independent, cuddly but not a smotherer. 'He's just a great presence to have around.'  Although Lucky appears to be low to moderate in energy level, he does get the zoomies a couple of times a day. He does this twirly circle thing and barks for you to play with him, or he runs so fast down the hallway he slides all over the place and then comes running back for more. Once that's out of his system, he might enjoy chasing lizards in the yard... but then it's time to nap in the sun or on the couch with his canine housemate, Stanley. We aren't sure how much socialization with other dogs Lucky has had, but he definitely fit right in with the other dog in his foster home. He gives him his space and tries to play with him occasionally but isn't overbearing, and Lucky has coaxed Stanely to play a few times. When meeting new people, Lucky is friendly and interested, and we believe he will do well with kids a little older than the toddler stage. Food is clearly a motivator and, typical of a beagle, Lucky will take advantage of any opportunity he can to get it. But he has shown no food aggression at all, even if his foster mom removes his bowl while he is still eating. He sleeps in his crate at night. When foster mom leaves the house he is also crated and only barks a little when she leaves. One of the things Lucky really enjoys is going for walks and he's getting better on leash - only pulling  a little and learning to stay on one side or the other instead of crossing back and forth in front. Foster mom says he 'walks around like everything seems to be a novelty. It's pretty cute!' Lucky is heartworm positive but has started his treatment and, depending on the circumstances, he may be ready to go on sleep over anytime.
