Meet Simba!
Simba is a sweet, playful, and active dog looking for his forever home. Here's why you'll love him:
- Good with other dogs and kids.
- Cat-friendly. Gets along well with the feline friend in his foster home after proper introduction.
- Enjoys long walks and relaxing in the sun.
- Has learned to lower his energy level indoors and looks for a person to snuggle up with.
- Has does fantastic with learning commands like "sit", "lay down", and "stay". Still learning not to jump for hugs.
- Loves chew toys and playing, with water from the hose or bath spout.
- Comfortable in his crate, making him a great fit for structured routines.
- Will stay calmly seated or lay down for car-rides.
- Does not enjoy having his nails trimmed but responds well to patient care.
- He can be mouthy at playtime and will need a good leader to help him learn the basic skills he has not learned yet.
Simba is ready to bring his sunny personality and playful spirit to a loving home!
Adoption Donations are $275 for an adult, $375 for puppies (a dog under one year of age), and $175 for a senior dog (based on the age of the dog). More "sought out breeds may have a higher adoption donation) Adoption donations are to be made via cash, or credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards. We do not accept checks for adoption fees.
Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption.
We typically have adoption events on Wednesdays 5-7pm, Fridays 6-8pm, and Saturdays 11am-3pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process.
Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs and families, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 3 days.
Note: ODHS adopts within a 350 mile radius of Fredericksburg, Virginia. A $50 out of state fee applies.
