Whirlpool lives up to her name – she’s a delightful whirlpool of energy and fun! This sweet girl thrives on routine and is crate trained, happily enjoying her chew toys or Kong when in her crate. While she tends to ignore the other dog in her foster home, she does have a bit of a chase instinct when it comes to cats, so a cat-free home would be best. Whirlpool is friendly with new people and loves nothing more than cuddles after burning off her energy. She’s a playful pup who’s obsessed with tennis balls and will keep you on your toes with her bouncy spirit. If you`re ready for a whirlwind of love, energy, and play, Whirlpool is the pup for you!

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

AFHS is open 7 days a week, and adoptions are first come, first serve. We encourage you to visit the shelter to meet our pets.

2.
Meet the Pet

Unless the animal is in a foster home, then you can visit with all of our adoptable pets anytime during operating hours, no appt. needed.

Adoption Fees

Cats - 5 months and over: $30.00
Kittens - 4 months and under: $50.00
Senior Cats - 7+ years: $10.00

Dogs – 5 months and over: $125
Puppies – 4 months and under: $200
Senior Dogs - 7+ years: $75

Each animal receives age appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter, flea/tick prevention, microchip, county license & Heartworm prevention for dogs, trial bag of Hill's Science Diet food, and 30 days free pet insurance. AFHS is open 7 days a week and no appointment is needed to visit with adoptable pets!

Dogs must leave the shelter with a collar and leash, which can be purchased at the shelter at the time of adoption if you do not have one to bring with you.

Our mission is to promote humane principles, protect lost, homeless, abandoned and mistreated animals, and act as advocates for animals in our communities.

Animal Friends Humane Society (AFHS) was established in 1952 and is the only open- admission shelter in Butler County, Ohio. In 2009, AFHS relocated from its outdated facility in Trenton and now occupies a 22,500 sq. foot facility with top-notch amenities for its shelter population in Hamilton, Ohio. By adopting nationally recognized best practices for animal shelters, AFHS has been successful in increasing its overall save rate and hit a record high of 94% in 2020. Assisting over 5,000 pets each year, AFHS is committed to providing individual care to local pets in need. As Butler County’s largest and oldest 501(c)3 non-profit animal shelter, AFHS is always in need of community support to continue its lifesaving mission.
