We would like to reintroduce our very special girl, Geena, since she has more recently been lucky enough to find a loving foster home. Just that change in environment can make a world of difference for some of our animals.
Geena came to us all the way back in June of 2023. Sadly while in the shelter she was constantly overlooked, but since being in foster she has truly been able to blossom.
At just four years old, we know very little of her journey before her arrival at RBARI. Though we suspect that at some point she may have had a negative interaction with a man as she seems to be quite frightened of them, so Geena is definitely a girl's girl! She also bonds very closely to her chosen person, so would make an exceptional companion.
Though a bit shy at first meeting, Geena will quickly become your shadow as her foster mom can attest. She is also the perfect combination of a cat who wants to engage in interactive playtime, but is just as happy lounging on the couch as you work from home or catch up on the latest movies on your favorite streaming service.

Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.
To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
