My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We really don't know what Red is in terms of breed, and the dog ID apps available have come up with some interesting suggestions. Red definitely has been around the sun a time or two - he has a frosty face, a little bit of a limp on a front leg, and has tangled with removal of a lump or two, but he isn't on any meds for anything and he can zoomie with the best of them. He was found as a stray on, of all things, a dirt road in Jackson County.
Red is as sweet, friendly and loyal as they come. He is gentle, kind, pretty easy going and accommodating.  He very much likes to be with his people and will lean in for a head scratch and roll over for a belly rub. He LOVES being outdoors and riding in a car.. While Red enjoys his people, he is also quite content being by himself with his chew toys. He is great in a crate. In his foster home, he understands the toy box and does not usually bother with things he should leave alone. Lives cohesively with other dogs, but is far too interested in the yard squirrels, so I would not recommend cats. While he does occasionally bark briefly at something strange in the neighborhood, I have never heard him growl. He can get excited in new social situations, but settles back down pretty quickly.
Red has the prettiest amber eyes and the most stunning red coat. He would be fine as an only dog. He currently uses a doggie door and has a fenced yard. He has not attempted to climb or dig out of the fencing. Whether as an only dog or with others, Red would be a loyal, loving companion.

To meet Red, please complete an adoption application at https://dirtroaddoggiesrescue.org. Red is UTD on all core vaccinations and testing, neutered, microchipped and heartworm/parasite negative. $350

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Adoption is a four part process.

Application: You will be required to submit general information along with personal and vet references.

Home visit: Potential adopters will receive a home visit by one of our members.

Meet -n- Greet: All family members (fur babies included) must meet the foster parent and pup they wish to adopt.

Here at Dirt Road Doggies Rescue, each adoption contribution is a flat rate per dog. We do not adjust this rate based on the "popularity" of a dog. We believe every dog is worthy of an owner that sees the value in them. Each adoption contribution is used to cover the expenses incurred for that dog and other dogs in our program.

Go meet their pets

Dirt Road Doggies Rescue, INC is located in the quaint town of Gillsville, in the foothills of the Georgia Mountains, just south of Gainesville. Our rescues are fostered in loving homes located in Hall, Jackson, and neighboring counties.

More about this rescue

We are a small canine rescue group located in Northeast Georgia that works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, fully vet, and re-home faithful dogs that have been tossed out of cars onto rural roads. We are a registered, 501c3 tax deductible Non Profit Rescue and we are licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture

All dogs in our program have been previously reported to animal control to ensure they were not lost pups who had a family diligently looking for them. We do not turn a dog away due to breed, health concerns, or age. It is our goal to keep these dogs out of animal shelters, thus saving their lives and providing more time to the dogs already in shelters to find their forever family.
