MEET MS. ELVIRA….also known to her close friends as “Elly.” It’s really difficult to get good pictures of black dogs, so these don’t really do this little 11-12 lb, 5 yr old, black/white Shih Tzu X justice! She came to us with the biggest and rattiest matts I have ever seen! She had two ears on each side, one of which was one big fat matt! Our groomer is a miracle worker, and she was able to save some of her silky, non-shedding, shiny black coat! She will look spectacular when it grows out!
Elly is a kissy-face lovebug! When she first arrived, she hardly moved and couldn’t go up or down the stairs. She had double cherry eye, an umbilical hernia, needed to be spayed and groomed! This is a lot for a little one, but she took it all in stride! Despite all that, she is very healthy and races up the stairs now!! We have learned that she does not like being left alone…she really wants and needs human attention. She settles down, as long as there is another dog to keep her company…but she prefers you! She will need a new home where there is someone there and another dog! I know, a lot to ask but she is worth it. She definitely has energy and will get uber excited when she sees you! Watch the door, she is fast and she will slip out if you aren’t careful!!
Sadly, we believe little Elly was kept as an outside dog, not only from the way she looked, but she does her business on a walk (or a pp pad) on the sidewalk. She was also probably bred until her breeding days were done 🙁 You need to keep an eye on her because she will stop when you are least expecting it! She loves to be cuddled and in your arms or lap, unless she is playing, is her favorite place. Does Elly sound like a pup you could adore? She’s waiting!!!

Lhasa Happy Homes will be now holding our adoption events the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month on Main Street in Santa Monica (check calendar link below for special events and directions). Our event is located at 2116 Main Street, in Santa Monica, CA. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household. Main Street is famous for its innovative shops and is close to the beach! Make a day of it!! Metered parking on the street and free parking on 4th and Bicknell Streets.
Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household....and do some fantastic shopping at the same time! Please do call us if you are coming to see a particular dog to make sure he/she will be at adoptions (we do not bring sick dogs to our adoption events). Please bring pictures or video of your home and yard if we have not done a home check (preferred)! Most importantly, if you have a dog, make sure you bring him or her to do a compatibility match with the dog you are interested in adopting!
