Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hadley is a handsome 1-1/2 year old male Australian Cattle Dog/Red Heeler who was brought to the safety of our shelter on November 27, 2024. Hadley had been spotted on Hadley Hollow Road in the Marietta Ohio area several days earlier and many compassionate animal lovers had tried to persuade him to 'turn himself in' .. but Hadley was a very frightened boy and couldn't bring himself to be apprehended. Hadley was finally enticed (with mouth-watering food to venture into a large humane trap with our shelter management team nearby and was transported to HSOV late that evening.
This magnificent young man was understandably nervous being in an unfamiliar place with people that he did not know but, thanks to extra TLC and a slow introduction, he soon realized that he was indeed "in a good place with good people who already loved him". Hadley spent the first few days in the HSOV bathroom with a nice bed and lots of warm soft blankets .. And plenty of gourmet food and fresh water.
Hadley has a white short smooth coat with red ticking, a long fluffy tail, and a beautiful symmetrically-marked red/mahogany-and-white face, dark brown eyes, a black button nose on his slender muzzle, and large erect ears.
Hadley has a friendly, easygoing personality. He appears to know some basic commands, so someone surely loved him and spent time with Hadley to have mastered these skills. Hadley also appears to be housetrained.
These photos of Hadley were taken on December 4, 2024 when HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver accompanied him for his Petfinder/Facebook/Adoptapet pictures. Hadley was quite playful with Emily by his side and obviously knew he was in good hands. Hadley seemed a little too interested in some of our outdoor mascot shelter kitties, so we aren't sure we would trust him with feline friends.
Hadley does not do well with children.
Hadley weighs 53 lbs and walked fairly well on a leash for Emily.
In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Hadley was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Surprisingly, nobody called or came looking for Hadley.
Hadley will be neutered before being adopted by his new family. He could be fostered while he is awaiting his neuter procedure with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.
Update: Hadley went home with a foster family on December 19, 2024 who plans to adopt him after he is neutered.
