My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What my friends at ACC say about me:

My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!

I am looking for a home with a patient person.

I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.

I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

A volunteer writes: This bouncy, playful, exuberant boy is Giddy Up and he's just so cute in every way! He's very social - turning into a 45-pound wiggle-worm when I pet him. And during his photo shoot, he crawled into a volunteer's lap, hanging out there with his paws draped over her legs, indulging in all their "awwwws" while munching on treats. His friendliness seems to extend to other dogs, too - he did very well when we introduced him to a different dog on two separate occasions - greeting them both with a soft, wiggle body and acting appropriately when one of them made him uncomfortable. Giddy also loves toys - whether tossing it to himself or shaking it around, he really knows how to have fun! Giddy can get over-aroused during social interactions, causing him to jump up on his handlers, so he'll need to be taught to remain calm in exciting situations (using only force-free, positive-reinforcement training). But I think he'll be a great student - he's very social and attentive; highly treat-motivated; and already knows "sit". Being out of a stressful shelter environment should also help a lot. Come and meet this lovable (and handsome) boy at our Queens shelter today!
