My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Aki went on an adventure with one of our volunteers and here`s the report:
`Aki, our 14 week old husky lab mix headed out of the shelter for a SUNDAY FUNDAY. Aki was a good pup in the car, tethered in for safety, he rode in the backseat with little fuss, he enjoyed the stuffed kong and toys for the half hour ride. Aki went to Carmel-by-the-Sea and had a leisurely time at the beach. Once the blanket was out this youngster was more than content with his toys and chew, chewing is an excellent activity when supervised, helps with puppy teething and in his case decompressing from a noisy shelter. He was curious about the other dogs romping up and down the beach but was very satisfied on his blanket, with constant attention from his chaperone. I think most of all he enjoyed being close to someone and the physical touch he does not get enough of in the shelter. After beach time we stopped in at Carmel Dog Shop and then on to Cypress Inn/Terry’s Lounge. The patio was packed pretty tight this afternoon as they had live music for their brunch. Aki greeted a toddler with a little boop to the belly, he greeted another dog sitting at next table and seemed very calm for the many folks and dogs in the area. The musician noticed Aki’s ADOPT ME harness and and got everyone on the patio’s attention and asked that Aki’s information be shared…..Carmel truly is a dog haven and people were so kind to him. Following our time at Cypress Inn we headed back to the shelter and Aki rest very comfortably the entire way. Taking a young pup like Aki out provides more information about personality and how the dog will behave and adjust. Aki was very social, curious and confident but not too confident…he’s very friendly and loving. He is the prime age to start a full array of training, basic obedience and potty training. He is also in that puppy teething stage where chewing and mouthing is incredibly irresistible, and his adopter should provide him with the proper outlets for chewing and help him through that stage. Most dog savvy people will expect that phase from a puppy. Aki has been waiting for 1.5 months already and after spending a decent amount of time with him, it clearly is a shame he has not been placed already. Please share Aki.`
