Cow is an adorable 2-year old male American Pit Bull Terrier mix who was surrendered by his family on November 27, 2024 along with his brother (Chunk) through no fault of their own.
Cow has a beautifully-marked black-and-white short smooth coat, a long tail, and a cute 'phantom-of-the-opera' face. The left side of his face is black and the right side is white. Cow has dark brown eyes, a black button nose, and extra-large semi-erect ears.
His family provided extensive information about Cow and Chunk:
The boys are good with children older than 10-years old (though they do tend to jump on people), and they are also good with other dogs and cats.
Cow and Chunk know several basic commands (sit, stay/wait, down, speak, and come here).
They have been kept indoors except for time outdoors during the day when confined in their yard or taking walks with their family. Cow and Chunk are housetrained and only have 'accidents' if you don't wake up around 6:30am to take them outside.
Cow and Chunk are frightened of loud noises and people wearing hats/cats with a bill on the hat. They react by barking or circling away.
Their favorite toys are kong toys/rings, bones, tug-of-war rope, and running after the young boys in their home on mini-bikes.
They love to snuggle and sleep in their family's bed or with the young children. Cow and Chunk love baths and bubbles, and the love pig ears.
These photos of Cow were taken on December 4, 2024 when HSOV Volunteer Emma Dahlgren accompanied him for outdoor pictures. Cow has a super sweet, fun-loving personality. He was a pleasure to photograph.
Cow weighs 51.2 lbs and is fairly energetic on a leash.
Cow and Chunk had been in their home since they were young puppies and have never been separated, so they would love to find another home together.
Cow and Chunk will be neutered before being adopted by their new family. They could be fostered-to-adopt while awaiting their neuter procedures with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.

The HSOV Adoption application is available at our shelter during normal hours of operation and may also be completed online via our website.

Shelter management reviews applications for approval. If approved, potential adopters will be notified.

All HSOV dogs and cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted and going to their new home.

Our adoption process includes an adoption application which must be completed and approved by our shelter management. We verify veterinarian references and also approval from landlords if the pet will be housed in rental property. Home visits may also be required prior to adoption. All dogs/cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted.
Adoption fee for dogs is $150.00 which includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, dog tag, microchip, and spay/neuter.
Adoption fee for cats is $40 and includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, and spay/neuter. Most adult cats (and kittens over 3-months of age) have already been spayed/neutered.
Adoption fees for other species varies.
