My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zander was picked up as a stray in the Town of Cicero. This hefty boy weighs in at around 80 pounds, but is an absolute gentleman. He’s spent a few days up at our front desk and has shown himself to be a calm boy who’s just happy to be around people. He’s not interested in barking. Not while he’s at the front desk or even in his kennel. He actually gets confused by all the barking the other dogs do. He`s looking for someone who can appreciate his house hippo heritage and give him a comfy couch to cuddle up on with his person.

If you decide on the pet you meet, they will be put in for a pre-adoption vet check. It can take up to a week for your pet to come home.

So you’re ready to add a family member to your home! Well you’re at the right place! To begin, you can view our animals available for adoption online, but there’s nothing like the real thing. We welcome you to come to our shelter and spend some time getting to know our animals in person.

To start off, please review the adoption guidelines below to speed up the adoption process:

1. Applicants must be at least 21 years old.

2. All adoption applications must be filled out completely.

3. An adoption application must be completed before any animal can be taken out for a visit. No animal will be taken out for a visit prior to this time.

4. You will need picture ID, with name and current address, to photo copy onto your application.

5. Any animal on a HOLD cannot be taken out for a visit until its holding time is up and it is available for adoption.

6. All dogs MUST be licensed with your Town prior to leaving the CNYSPCA, ask adoption counselor for further details.
