Willie My newest adventure began on December 2, 2024. When my owner`s health declined, my three companion cats and I were surrendered to HSHC. Despite my misleading name, I am a 14-year-old Tortoiseshell female! According to my owner, I was found as a stray kitten and have been with him ever since. In my home, the three other cats tended to torment me and start fights with me. I was always the friendliest cat and would never cause altercations. I like being held in your arms and watching birds from a window. During my initial medical evaluation, the staff reported I had a severe infestation of fleas with itchy skin. I weighed a little over 8 pounds, and they worried when I was not eating at all upon arrival. That is no longer a problem. I moved to a foster home in December, and it has been a wonderful experience. My foster mom says I am an absolute doll as I am very friendly and affectionate. It took me no time at all to settle into the routine. I surprised them all on the second day when I rolled over to get a belly rub. The daily brushing sessions have been lovely, and I even let them cut my nails with no complaints! I burst with pride when I heard my foster mom say, `Having this little princess staying with us is truly a pleasure.` I hope someone will read my story and offer me a loving, forever home where I can enjoy the rest of my life. 1-6-25

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
