My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This Jedi has a  Galaxy of Love to Give!

Hello, there! I’m Obi Wan - a 2-year-old, 20-pound Terrier mix with a heart as big as a Wookiee and the resilience of a Jedi. My journey hasn’t been an easy one - I was rescued from the streets of Tijuana with a severe case of mange. Thanks to some healing powers (and medicated baths twice a week), my fur is growing back beautifully, and I’m feeling better every day!

I’m sweet, affectionate, and a certified cuddlebug who loves being close to my humans. If I could stick to your side with the Force, I totally would! I get along with other dogs, cats, and kids (10 and up, please - they understand boundaries better), but my true happiness comes from being near my people.

It’s true, like all Jedi, I’ve faced my share of battles. My time on the streets left me cautious around new people and situations, and I may need a little time to trust you. I can be reactive when triggered but with time and positive reinforcement I can be the best boy!  But once I’ve gotten comfortable, I’ll follow you to the ends of the galaxy (or just the couch). I’ve made great strides in my training - after just two weeks, I’ll walk into my crate on my own and happily wait there until morning. I’m also mostly potty-trained and love to strut my stuff on leisurely walks.

I’m a sucker for belly rubs and treats, which makes teaching me new tricks a breeze. I may hesitate at first when it’s bath time, but once I’m in, I enjoy the extra rubs and scratches - who wouldn’t?

My ideal home is filled with love, patience, and plenty of snuggle time. I’m searching for a family who will guide me gently, respect my boundaries, and shower me with affection. If you’re looking for a loving companion who will stick with you through thick and thin, I’m the Obi Wan you’ve been looking for.
Find me on Instagram @shelterbreakout for more updates. May the love be with us!

My adoption fee is $375 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
