If you are looking for the perfect balance of energetic and chill, Dory is your girl! She is one and a half years old and came to us as a stray out of Detroit where she was found completely emaciated. Ever since, she has made it her mission to eat all the food! She's now up to a healthy 55 lbs and looks fabulous. She is extremely food motivated and eager to please. She only knows a couple commands, like sit and shake, but she is easily picking up others. Dory's favorite thing is to curl up under a blanket on the couch with her people.
Because she was a stray, we don't know any of Dory's history or what breed(s) she is, but we think she's a mix of all the best! Dory loves everyone, but seems to especially love men, and is getting along well with the small dog in her foster home. Except for some curiosity, she hasn't paid much attention to the pet bird in the house. She is excited to meet new people and has loved everyone she has met. She is very excited about new dogs, maybe even a little too excited at times, so it is important for her to have slow, proper introduction to new dogs. We have not seen her around cats.
Dory still has a lot of puppy energy and doesn't always realize how big she is, so she probably wouldn't be a good fit for houses with small children that she could knock over or steal food from. Dory gets very nervous on walks and doesn't seem to enjoy wearing a harness yet, she also needs work on not pulling. She is a super great jumper, and can jump over a 4' fence, it is best to keep her on a leash or tie out in any fenced area that she could potentially jump over.
Dory is currently sleeping in her crate at night, but she would love a home that has room in the big bed for her. She doesn't love being in her crate at home, and will bark, but calms down after a couple minutes. Other than that, she doesn't bark a lot, but she does snore! Dory is well potty-trained on a schedule, she has had occasional accidents when left for longer than a couple of hours. She has not chewed on anything she shouldn't. She also does great with nail trims and baths at home and rides like a perfect angel on car rides.
Dory has a wonderful disposition and she can't wait to share her joy with a forever family. Set up your meet and greet today! MichelesRescue.com
